Ontario Premier Says Trump Is Acting Like Enemy
His remarks came after a three-day summit in Muskoka, where he met with fellow provincial leaders to discuss national issues.
During a media briefing, Ford made clear his lack of faith in the U.S. leader. "Trump himself is acting like the enemy," he told journalists, highlighting his serious distrust.
He went on to say, "I don't trust President Trump as far as I can throw him," describing Trump as unpredictable and unreliable: "He constantly changes his mind. You just don't know who you’re dealing with."
The summit, which Ford hosted in Huntsville, Ontario, included dialogue on a range of domestic concerns, including health services and immigration policies.
However, the potential re-emergence of a trade dispute with the United States overshadowed other agenda items.
Following the meeting, New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt remarked that Trump's aggressive stance had altered the dynamics of cooperation among the provinces.
"We can walk and chew gum at the same time," she said, noting that the U.S. president's "actions have meant we've been meeting a lot more than ever before."
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith also commented on the uncertainty surrounding Trump’s influence. "I’m watching Truth Social along with everyone else, because things could change in five minutes," she said, indicating how swiftly U.S. political shifts could affect Canadian provinces.
