Pakistan Introduces Army Rocket Force Command
(MENAFN) On Wednesday, Pakistan revealed the creation of a new military unit known as the Army Rocket Force Command, just days before the nation marked its 79th Independence Day.
The announcement was made during a formal event, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif officially launched the initiative.
The ceremony, held in Islamabad, saw the presence of top national leaders including President Asif Ali Zardari and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir.
Distinguished guests also included foreign military delegations from Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
Prime Minister Sharif, speaking at the event, emphasized that the newly formed force is outfitted with "modern technology" and is designed to strike adversaries "from all directions."
He noted that this addition would greatly strengthen Pakistan’s traditional military strength.
This year’s Independence Day celebrations are being held under the motto “Marka-e-Haq” (Battle for Righteousness), which underscores the nation’s “steadfast resolve, sacrifices and unity.”
In his speech, the prime minister highlighted Pakistan’s significant status as “the only Muslim power and seventh nuclear power in the world.”
He honored key figures behind this achievement, including the late Abdul Qadeer Khan, often referred to as the “father of Pakistan's nuclear program.”
Reiterating Pakistan’s defensive posture, Sharif stated that the country’s nuclear arsenal is “not for aggression, but we achieved these weapons for our defense against Indian nuclear weapons.”
He also acknowledged international efforts in conflict resolution, saying, “I want to thank US President Donald Trump for his role in reaching a ceasefire with India,” referencing previous cross-border tensions that erupted in May.
The establishment of this specialized military division marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s strategic defense policy, signaling its continued commitment to regional deterrence and national security.
