Spain Slams Israel’s Heinous Assault on Gaza Hospital
The Spanish Foreign Ministry issued a statement denouncing the attack, which left four journalists and other civilians dead. "The Spanish government condemns the Israeli attack on the Nasser Hospital in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of four journalists and innocent civilians," the ministry said.
The attack took place earlier that day, when Israeli forces struck the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, located in southern Gaza. Health authorities and eyewitnesses reported that at least 20 Palestinians were killed, including five journalists and a firefighter. Several others were also injured in the bombardment.
A reporter confirmed that the Israeli military shelled the emergency building's top floor, known as the "Al-Yassin" floor.
The Spanish government underscored the need for stronger protections for journalists, reaffirming Madrid's "full commitment" to safeguarding press freedom and the right to information. "We reiterate that specially protected sites cannot be targeted. This is a flagrant and unacceptable violation of international humanitarian law, which must be investigated," the statement concluded.
