SpaceX’s Starship rocket finishes its tenth test flight Tuesday

(MENAFN) A new survey reveals that half of adults in the UK are worried about how artificial intelligence (AI) could affect their jobs. The Trade Congress Union (TUC) polled 2,600 adults and found widespread concern over AI’s rapid growth, particularly regarding potential job losses and changes to working conditions.

The poll showed that 51% of adults expressed concern, with young workers especially affected—62% of those aged 25-34 voiced worries. Supporters of Labour (52%), Conservative (49%), and Reform (52%) parties all shared similar anxieties.

Half of the public also believes that workers and unions should have an equal say alongside businesses in shaping the future of AI in the UK, while only 17% opposed this idea.

Kate Bell, TUC assistant general secretary, said AI has transformative potential, but for workers to benefit from productivity gains, they must be central to AI development. She warned that if mismanaged, AI could worsen inequality by displacing jobs while increasing shareholder wealth.
