Russia Plans to Halt Gas Supplies to Armenia for 10 Days

(MENAFN) Gazprom Armenia announced Monday that natural gas supplies from Russia to Armenia will be cut off for 10 days starting Tuesday due to scheduled maintenance on the North Caucasus-Transcaucasia main pipeline in Russia’s Stavropol region.

The company explained that gas transit will be halted from September 16 to 26, but it will rely on internal reserves and supplementary imports from Iran to manage supply during this period.

Gazprom Armenia assured that there will be no interruptions to the “uninterrupted and reliable gas supply to consumers.”

Operating Armenia’s domestic gas market, Gazprom Armenia is a wholly owned subsidiary of Russia’s state-controlled energy giant Gazprom.

While Armenia is heavily dependent on Russian energy, it also secures gas imports from Iran through a swap deal, trading electricity for natural gas.
