UC Community Sues Trump Administration
The legal case was submitted in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, aiming to prevent the Trump administration from continuing to use monetary pressure to intimidate the UC system in ways it described as damaging.
"The Trump-Vance administration has attempted to implement a playbook to threaten colleges and universities," the lawsuit stated.
Since returning to office in January, the second Trump administration has focused on several leading academic institutions, contending that they persist in advancing "woke" initiatives centered on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), despite President Donald Trump’s claim that such approaches are unlawful and biased.
Officials have threatened to revoke federal support for those universities, along with pursuing additional measures.
Trump has further denounced universities for permitting pro-Palestinian demonstrations, which he argues are antisemitic.
