Through a post on X, the social media platform owned by the US company, the office emphasized that every lost hectare "means less biodiversity, weaker climate resilience, and greater risk for communities."
According to the UN, COP30—scheduled to run from Nov. 10 to Nov. 21—offers a crucial window for nations to transition from commitments to tangible, immediate measures, declaring: "COP30 is a chance to stop deforestation and invest in nature's recovery."
These tropical ecosystems serve as massive carbon storage systems, control regional precipitation patterns, and provide habitat for the majority of land-based species on Earth. When destroyed, they amplify the risk of severe weather phenomena, diminish the planet's natural ability to capture carbon dioxide, and leave marginalized populations increasingly susceptible to climate hazards.
