"firearm discharge"
Investigators stated that signs indicating the use of a firearm were discovered near the location of the incident.
"Evidence of a firearm discharge has been located," police said on social media.
Authorities also closed a section of University Avenue located in front of the consulate while officers continue gathering evidence and examining the scene.
The shooting occurred only three days after an explosion struck the US Embassy in Oslo, Norway. Local officials there believe the blast may have been linked to a terror-related attack.
