Tehran Delays Decision on Next US Negotiation Round
“Iran has not, up to this moment, agreed to the next round of talks” due to the US blockade of Iranian ports and Washington's "excessive demands in the negotiations," it said.
The report further indicated that Tehran considers the removal of such demands a fundamental requirement for continuing dialogue, noting: “The absence of excessive US demands is a key condition for continuing talks,” the report claimed, adding that this message was relayed to the US via Pakistani mediators.
Meanwhile, according to reports referencing Iranian sources, both Iranian and US representatives were anticipated to travel to Islamabad over the weekend, with plans to conduct a second round of negotiations on Monday.
Previous discussions between Washington and Tehran took place in Pakistan last weekend but ended without producing an agreement.
Tensions between the two sides escalated earlier this year. On Feb. 28, the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran, and Tehran retaliated with strikes on Israel and other regional countries hosting US assets.
Hostilities have since been temporarily paused following a ceasefire brokered by Pakistan on April 8, which is set to last for two weeks.
