Kazakhstan, Israel Leaders Hold Talks in Astana on Bilateral Ties

(MENAFN) Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks on Monday in Astana with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, with both sides emphasizing expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in economic and political fields, according to a statement from Tokayev’s office.

Tokayev described relations between Kazakhstan and Israel as “close and exceptionally friendly,” noting that the two countries have already achieved notable results through their partnership, especially in areas tied to trade, the economy, and governance.

According to reports, Tokayev also announced Kazakhstan’s decision to join the Abraham Accords, framing the move as an effort to support broader regional stability and improve relations between Middle Eastern states and Israel.

“I would also like to emphasize that Kazakhstan has decided to join the Abraham Accords,” he said, describing the step as “readiness and intention to contribute to the stabilization of relations between the countries of the Middle East and Israel.”

He further stressed that there is significant untapped potential in the relationship between the two countries and said it should be fully developed.

Tokayev also expressed the belief that the potential for bilateral cooperation “is enormous, and it must be fully utilized.”

Herzog welcomed Kazakhstan’s decision, including its participation in the broader “Board of Peace” initiative, and highlighted opportunities for deeper cooperation, particularly in advanced industries.

“I have brought with me a representative delegation of industry experts who can give impetus to our partnership, particularly in high technology,” Herzog said.

He added that global developments are opening a new phase in international relations, making stronger partnerships increasingly important.

“The potential for our cooperation, as the world enters a new historical era, is truly enormous,” he added.
