Xi Urges Long-Term China-Russia Cooperation for “More Just” Global Order

(MENAFN) Xi Jinping called for closer long-term strategic cooperation with Russia on Wednesday during talks with Vladimir Putin in Beijing, emphasizing efforts to build what he described as a “more just and reasonable” system of global governance.

Speaking at the Great Hall of the People, Xi said the current international environment is increasingly unstable, warning of a resurgence in unilateral actions and power politics. At the same time, he stressed that peace, development, and cooperation remain the dominant global aspiration, according to reports.

Xi urged both countries to adopt a broader strategic outlook and strengthen what he described as higher-quality coordination in their comprehensive partnership, aiming to support national development and broader international stability.

He noted that political trust between China and Russia has deepened, alongside expanding cooperation across multiple sectors and shared positions on global issues, which he said reflect a joint commitment to international fairness and justice.

Addressing global conflicts, Xi said a full ceasefire in the Middle East is “of utmost urgency,” warning that renewed fighting would be unacceptable and stressing that diplomatic negotiations remain “of paramount importance,” according to reports.
