UNION, NJ, UNITED STATES, October 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Pen In-Charge highlights two books by author and U.S. Navy veteran John Siko, "A Wrongful Death Lawsuit" and "Operation Greenhouse." Drawing from different periods of his life, the books offer personal accounts of his experiences, from a marriage spanning nearly six decades to his service aboard a U.S. Navy destroyer during the early Cold War.

Through these works, Siko documents events and relationships that have remained significant throughout his life, preserving memories of family, military service, and historical events for readers.

In "A Wrongful Death Lawsuit," Siko reflects on his life with his wife, Beth, and the relationship they shared throughout nearly 60 years of marriage.

The book presents personal recollections of their years together, offering insight into the experiences, memories, and milestones that shaped their relationship. Through his writing, Siko revisits a significant chapter of his life and documents the lasting importance of their marriage.

Written from the author's perspective, the work serves as a personal record of family, companionship, and remembrance. It provides readers with an account of the relationship that remained central to Siko's life for almost six decades.

Siko's second book, "Operation Greenhouse," examines a different chapter of his life, returning to his early years as a sailor in the United States Navy.

After enlisting as a teenager, Siko served aboard the USS Walker, a Navy destroyer that participated in activities associated with Operation Greenhouse at Enewetak Atoll in the Marshall Islands in 1951.

Operation Greenhouse was a series of four U.S. nuclear tests conducted during the early Cold War. Siko's account documents his memories of the operation from the perspective of a young serviceman carrying out his assigned duties.

In the book, Siko recalls the four tests, known as DOG, EASY, GEORGE, and ITEM. His recollections include the countdowns preceding the detonations, the flashes of light, the accompanying heat and shock waves, and the clouds rising over the Pacific.

Beyond the testing activities, "Operation Greenhouse" also describes everyday life aboard the USS Walker, including the routines, responsibilities, and procedures followed by its crew.

Rather than presenting a technical examination of nuclear testing, the book offers a firsthand account of military service during a significant period in twentieth-century history.

Although the books explore different subjects, both draw upon Siko's personal experiences.

"A Wrongful Death Lawsuit" centers on family and remembrance, while "Operation Greenhouse" documents his experiences in the U.S. Navy during the early 1950s.

Together, the works provide readers with perspectives on two periods of Siko's life, preserving personal memories alongside recollections of events with broader historical significance.
